Dog eats toe of American woman !

Although this is not a unique occurance, a similar thing happened to a man in Scotland, the similarities are plain to see. The woman, a diabetic with sensory loss in her foot (neuropathy) was horrified to awake to find her pet Daschund had eaten her toe and she had not felt a thing throughout the ordeal ! Unfortunately for the dog it was put to sleep by the Vet after this unusual meal. The Daschund breed was first used to flush our badgers in Germany now has a new string to its bow ! Diabetic sensory neuropathy occurs when individuals with long term poorly controlled diabetes loose the protective sensation that would normally alert an individual to the feeling of pain,standing on objects like pins on the floor etc. Diabetics need close follow up and monitoring from Podiatrist and family Doctor.
